Sunraysia Mallee Ethnic Communities Council Inc has received Federal funding under the Fostering Integration grants program.

In a win for SMECC’s efforts in the community they will receive $60,841 for a revamp of their barbecue area.

“Congratulations to SMECC on this funding, which will be a terrific boost for their work with Sunraysia and Mallee multicultural communities,” Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster said.

“Sunraysia has such a diverse population and organisations such as SMECC have a significant positive effect on people’s lives.”

The Fostering Integration Grants program facilitates the participation, integration and social cohesion of both recently arrived migrants and multicultural communities in Australia.

The latest round of the program consisted of $5.6 million invested in 83 projects across Australia, a reduction from the $7.5 million committed in 2021-2022.
