Mining Projects

Anne Webster MP

Communities across Mallee have raised serious concerns with me about multiple proposed mining sites. Our farmers are worried about their ability to grow food and fibre.

Labor must resolve the critical issues of food security and the local impacts of these mines. In some cases, mine proponents have handled social licence so poorly, communities are badly divided.

These mines’ Environmental Effects Statement (EES) reviews sit with the Victorian Government. These reviews have, at times, been scheduled during the busiest time for farmers, and many have had to sacrifice their valuable time writing lengthy submissions they fear will be ignored. I will stand up for our farmers every time to ensure they are treated with respect. You can see the latest on how I’ve been advocating for fairness on the media page.
